This is a first draft of a design for a friend of a co-worker. All I know about her is that she enjoys photography so I hope that this is at least on the right track. All the photography is from her site. The camera in the header was digitally redrawn from a photograph and I absolutely adore the detail I was able to get into it. If for some reason it isn't what she imagined, I'm sure I can get use out of the camera on another layout.

Oh the fibs and tall tales a two-year-old can tell. The image for this blog was digitally drawn from a photograph taken at Valentine's Day. After drawing the image, I softened it and frankly... I love it. The blog on the other hand is full of lies about my bad parenting skills!

I'm in the middle of the beginning of the final redesign for this site!! WOOHOO for an end to beta-version!! *hehe*

On the left you will see some changes have been made to the sidebar. It's a slow and tedious process as I insist on drawing all of my buttons myself . . . and since it is late/early/late on a Sunday morning, I'm calling it quits for a bit.

You'll notice that you can now contact me via the email button or follow me on twitter. I've also written an "About Me" which might be entertaining to read.

Sunday is Prince Charming's "poker day" so the computer will be his place of "worship" . . . (I know, so very heathenistic of him!) . . . but hey, it brings in some extra cash and keeps him out of my hair.

That being said, I've done a little research on reasonable pricing for this type of service. One of the main providers I stumbled on charges $110 for a basic 2 column layout!! (FYI: That is not in my "reasonable" price range!!)

I also need to research methods of payment. Currently, I've been building up a portfolio amongst friends and I haven't the slightest idea where to go from here.

If you happen to have an etsy shop (I soooo adore handmade things) . . . I'm definately willing to barter on services for the time being. Simply email me with your offer and I'll be happy to negoriate.

I look forward to getting this whole thing up and running.

Once I build up a little "fan base," I really do hope to hold an auction and donate the income from the first layout to charity. My personal preference leans towards a cancer or children's fund. So please keep checking back and bear with me as I try to figure out how to make this whole thing work. In the very least you'll get a good laugh if I fall flat on my face.

Continuing the Journey

Cassey contacted me and asked me to do this layout for her. Her request was "something that goes along with the title of my blog . . . something regarding a long journey . . . maybe an empty dark highway, maybe something with a suggestion of a long wait for love." Skimming through some stock photographs, I stumbled on this girl with the suitcases and fell in love. I digitally recreated the girl and decided to go from there. I never was completely satisfied with the road itself which is completely original. However, when I finally got it to a point that I thought was "acceptable," I let Cassey have a look and she loved it.

Faded Sunsets and Dreams

This was a "surprise" design for Mom's "adopted" sister. The girl and tree were digitally drawn from photographs and the sunset was digitally drawn and then overlayed with a photograph to add detail. The screen shot is a bit choppy because I cropped it together to show off the background better. I must say that this is one of my favorite digital drawings and blog designs. I'm so glad I had a chance to do this design.

Granny Nanny

This layout was probably one of the most difficult to put together. Some suggestions comments indicated there would have to be purple, a pool table, and alcohol! Knowing GN thinks the world of her kids, I decided to try and recreate a photograph of her family. Once it was put together, I couldn't help throwing the neon bar theme together. This is my first attempt at an animated header. I liked the way the flashing neon came out, but wish I could get the header to center on her blog. All graphics on this layout were digitally drawn from actual photographs.

Green Olives and Pickle Juice

This was my first attempt at creating a design for someone I didn't personally know. The whole theme was obviously based off the title of her blog. I found the olive pictures at www.deviantart.com and combined them with a basic photo of a pickle jar. While it isn't the fanciest design I've done, I cannot help but love the way it fits together. I absolutely adore the way her logo just seemed to fall into place with the "O" becoming an olive when I used the font she had her signature created from.

This layout was designed for Celtic Buffy. She requested a Bohemian beach theme. My original creation was just too dreary and so I redesigned it with a more cheerful beach towel idea. This also happens to be one of my first attempts at digitally recreating photographs. CB says she loves the theme, but at this time I am still waiting for her to arrange to have it installed. I hope it will be up and running in the near future.

This screenshot is not exactly accurate. The actual design has a bottom border of grass and stones. I designed this site to promote my own "positive living" and due to a lack of response (and time to keep it up) it has sort of died off. However, I still enjoy the relaxing layout and hope to continue with this site in the future.

This is one of my original layouts designed for my mother. I had this sparkly fairy godmother silohette hanging out in my files and when she started this site, it just seemed perfect. It's a very basic design compared to some of my others, but it just fit the whole "bedtime story" theme too perfectly.

This design was done for my friend and co-worker. Her family raise sheep and just had baby lambs when I started on this. I originally had an idea of a fence with little sheep tails hanging on it with bows, but for the life of me I could not find a decent picture of a lamb tail to start the design from. However, I did find a sketch of these cartoon lambs with their crazy expressions. I immediately thought of her three kids and went to work drawing the lambs and adding color. The sunflowers were just too perfect for a Kansas farm girl.

Princess K

Once Upon a Time . . .

Princess K is head over heels for Prince Charming. Together they have a beautiful daughter, Ogre Child. Though it is uncertain where the child inheritted her Ogreness, there is evidence on both sides of the family that indicate ogre-like genetics.

Princess K is skirting the edge of thirty and has sworn the next person to ask her age shall be locked in the tower until wrinkle cream and hair dye are free.

When she is not vanquishing toxic diaper dragons or wrangling laundry monsters, the Princess takes time to enjoy the laughter of the Ogre Child and cuddle with Prince Charming.

Most days she can be found trying to educate the native village children in proper grammar and etiquette. However, after a long day mingling with real life heathens, she enjoys taking some time to browse through the magic blogdom and catch up on all the worldly gossip.

Naturally artistic, she greatly enjoys creating new things for others to enjoy. The palace is adorned with her fine creations and clearly represents her love for interior decorating.

The Princess also greatly enjoys writing, photography and singing, as well as scrapbooking and sewing. In the future, she hopes to purchase a bigger castle where she will have room to work and create wonderful things to share with others.

Princess K hates rude people, kitchens, clowns, and all things green and slimy. Once a new palace is purchased, she has detailed plans to acquire a rare breed of dragon which lives off of ill-mannered humans and table scraps. The current palace is bursting at the seams with exploding closets and carefully stashed boxes of outgrown clothes. This, along with geographic complications is currently preventing the purchase of just such a creature.

On occasion, the Princess likes to dress up for no reason what-so-ever. Her favorite shoes are a pair of wicker platform mules and a strappy pair of red high heels. She loves the summer when she is free to wear strapless dresses, short skirts and halter tops without the ridicule of local villagers. She has an ever growing collection of purses and hats that she loves to mix and match.

Overall, the Princess is quite satisfied with where her life is at this point. Prince Charming and her have plans to have more children in the future. However, concerns at the increasing prominence of the "Ogre-gene" in their first born, along with the fact that there does not seem to be such a thing as Pregnancy Amnesia, continue to postpone this endeavor. In the mean time, Princess K is quite content with their little family of three. The endeavors of a giggling, mischieveous toddler and the chaos of parenting on seperate shifts keeps her and Prince Charming ever on their toes.

Weekend plans

Busy busy busy...

First and foremost are the taxes and some important paperwork that's been shuffled to the bottom of the mail pile. Paying some important bills and taking care of those unpleasant essentials like laundry and housework.

However, somewhere in the brief pleasure that is my weekend, I have a couple of unfinished layouts I'd like to throw together.

Eventually, I'll have this site up and running so I can make a small profit from this hobby. And when I say "small", I mean perfectly reasonable. I've seen sites charging hundreds for this. OMG!! I can throw a decent blinkie together in under an hour!! Why do I tell you that? Because I have no intentions of charging an outrageous sum.

I'm no "PROFESSIONAL"!! I can't code anything beyond basic HTML. I can't whip out a java-shockwave-super-duper-interactive website. I'm a blog-for-fun type of gal. If I'm putting a fortune into my blog layout it better be doing my dishes. I expect many of us think that way. With all the free layouts, I figure it's got to be pretty special just to charge a fee.

What I intend to offer is exactly that... SPECIAL! But it won't change the diapers, pay the bills, or remind you to take the roast out of the oven. So I will not be asking that you sacrafice your first born to get that "Special" look from me (nor will I take donations that need to be fed or changed). Just a little compensation for my time. Don't worry though, all the profits will go to a good cause... (the Ogre Child's future therapy fund!)

Totally off topic though, because that particular step probably isn't going to make it into this weekends plans.

Well... first, I'll hold a drawing for a free layout design. Currently my free "custom" layouts are limited to personal bloggie friends. However, in the near future I'll be offering a free "custom" design to a random visitor. So be sure to check back soon for entry and rules.

Secondly, (and this is a little bit further down the road) I think it'd be neat to "auction" off a custom layout in the name of charity. I've decided that before I start charging for this service, I'd like to do something good with it. (I'm all about positive karma!) So... if I can get enough people excited about it, I'll plan to DONATE my first OFFICIAL custom layout to charity.
